DR. XIN YUAN'S BIOGRAPHY

I received the B.Eng. and M.Sc. degrees in 2013 and 2016, respectively. In 2020, I received a PhD degree in electrical engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China. I joined the School of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen, UK as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in 2024. Before joining the University of Aberdeen, I worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, and Research Associate at the PEMC Group of the University of Nottingham, UK. In 2020, I also was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. My research interests include AC motor drives in transportation applications, power converters, wireless power transfer, model predictive control, and control theory. I have successfully secured several Research Grants as a Principal Investigator. I have published more than 40 academic papers, and several patents, and served as a Guest Editor and Reviewer in different international scientific publishers.

I was invited as a speaker on Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate Summer Webinar in 2020 and served as TCTE member of IEEE IES Technical Committee on Transportation Electrification. I served at the IECON 2020,46th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society as a session chair and served as a Reviewer for over 20 international journals. I have received many awards, including the best Ph.D. thesis prize, outstanding Ph.D. graduate award and first honor academic scholarship.

I have rich R&D experience and leadership with high-power density powertrain development on heavy-duty electric vehicle/ aero/ marine/ EVTOL applications over 12 years. My speciality mainly contains the high-efficiency/fault-tolerant/low switching frequency SPMSM/IPM/SynRM control and high-power density integrated hardware design with EMI suppression.

As a young Principal Investigator at the UK, I am looking forward to getting any connection with you.
